Radar4birds offers scientific services for deploying radars for bird studies
What can a bird radar detect?
Bird radars can scan the sky in two main modes: an horizontal scan and a vertical scan. With an horizontal scan it is possible to detect and record the trajectories of the birds and to obtain, ground speed and direction of the birds while in the vertical mode it is possible to record the flight altitude.
In both cases radars can be used to count the number of birds and to infer the avian traffic over the area.
Why is a bird radar convenient for a bird monitoring?
